Reflections on the Gay Rights Movement

Many credit the Stonewall riots in Greenwich Village in New York City the night of June 28, 1969, as the start of the modern gay rights movement. Mayor Lydia Lavelle will discuss the history of this movement over the past five decades, as well as important litigation that occurred during this time. Mayor Lavelle will close with comments on the current state of the movement, highlighting challenges the LGBTQ+ community still faces.
