"It's always important to follow up with past clients. Of course, asking for a review is part of it, but just checking in to see how they are doing, seeing if you could be of assistance to them, and even sharing a resource along the way is so important to the growth of your business. People use the phrase that, "you never know," but honestly you do. Taking the time to learn your clients will benefit you in the long run. Get to know them and always follow up."

Before You Use AI to Save Time, Create a “Do Not Paste” List AI can help small businesses operate more efficiently, but using it without clear guidelines risks exposing sensitive information. Before using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Canva AI, or AI note-takers, establish a clear “Do Not Paste Into AI” list. At a minimum, include client names linked to private information, health or wellness data, student records, payment details, contracts, passwords, confidential business plans, refund disputes, and private client notes. Implement a human-review rule: No AI-generated emails, marketing claims, client documents, or public content should be sent without review for accuracy, privacy, tone, and unsupported claims. Small businesses do not need complex AI governance to begin. Instead, set practical guardrails: define what information can be entered into AI, what is prohibited, who may use each tool, and what requires review before reaching clients. Through our AI Privacy & Client Data Mini-Audit, we help privacy-focused small businesses establish clear AI-use policies, client data safeguards, and contractor workflows, enabling confident AI adoption without risking sensitive information.
